We publish today in Human Brain Mapping a study that unpacks the effects of aging on the information flows in brain network dynamics that coordinate hand movements. The study was led by Prof MH Boudrias from McGill's School of Physical and Occupational Therapy.

Meet Marie-Hélène Boudrias, PhD PT, researcher at the School of Physical & Occupational Therapy

Meet Marie-Hélène Boudrias, PhD PT, researcher at the School of Physical & Occupational Therapy!

Dr. Boudrias' main focus of research aims to understand the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying interaction between brain areas in aging subjects and stroke patients. She uses multimodal functional neuroimaging and electrophysiological techniques as well as state-of-the-art data analysis methods to measure the precise dynamics of these interactions. The general aim of her research is to identify robust and sensitive biomarkers of motor ability and in the longer term, to design subject-specific therapeutic interventions by using physical training or stimulation protocols to maintain motor function and/or alleviate age-related declines in motor performance.

Congratulations to Arna Ghosh and Alba Xifra Porxas on winning second prize in the TechIdea Pitch Competition at McGill University!

The title of their project is “Telesphorus -brain age prediction system”. By combining non-invasive brain scan technology such as MRI with Deep Learning technology, Telesphorus will measure brain age and compare this against biological age, to provide an early marker for potential neurological issues, before any cognitive symptoms have been detected.
