In collaboration with Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin's Structure and Dynamics of Energy Materials research group, Robert Krautmann's first 1st author paper has been published, which dives into different methods of texture analysis and capacitance spectroscopy in search of Sb2Se3 orientations and deep defects that affect current device performance. Vertical grain growth and defect modification are key to high-performance Sb2Se3 solar cells. 🤓

We are happy to welcome Sreekanth Mandati to our research group, who joined us in the frame of European Commission Horizon 2020 ERA Chair project 5GSOLAR. He will be working on inorganic perovskite solar cells, as a post-doctoral researcher.

He holds Masters' degrees in Physics and Materials Science and obtained a PhD with a specialization in the electrochemical deposition of CIGS semiconductors for solar cells. After PhD, he was a Visiting Research Associate at Purdue University where he continued his work on thin film solar cells. Prior to joining TalTech, he worked on perovskite solar cells by spin and bar coating methods.

A new research article on depositing Antimony Sulfide thin films from antimony ethyl xanthate has been published by our research group in the Journal of Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing. Herein, we studied the deposition of Sb2S3 thin films by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis using thiourea or thioacetamide as additives in the spray solution for future application in photovoltaics.

Our research group has published a new research article on antimony ethyl xanthate, a precursor for Sb2S3 thin films, in the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry. Herein, we study the thermal decomposition of antimony ethyl xanthate for future application in ultrasonic spray pyrolysis to deposit Sb2S3 thin films for photovoltaic applications.

A new research article on emerging PV material- Sb2Se3 has been published in the Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells journal! In this study, we showed that large columnar Sb2Se3 grains are optimal for high performance next-generation thin film solar cells.
