I have two sets of Saab classic 900 3door c-pillar roof trims that were discarded due to some minor visual imperfections. I had my personal car front bumper straightened and prepared for making a mould to of course make a carbon fibre version of that. However there is a twist - no licence plate cavity. I think it looks a lot cleaner this way. Oh, the rest of the time the guys work on restoring E-Type Jags and other historic automotive icons. (SOLD) Found a complete set of carbon fibre Airflow/Carlsson wheel arches from my other garage. It was the first quick test that did not turn out well and got rejected. They can be fixed and painted still. Maybe someone has been looking and don't mind putting some work in themselves. Offering the complete set of 4 for 80€

Also offering fuel filler lid from my own car. Functions just like the original only doesn't rust :) Weight is 70grams instead of 244grams of the original. Price: 80€ as well.

Safety Wiring a Saab 900 Turbo gearbox differential filter

Protecting the gearbox with this simple yet effective method of adding safety wire.

Tried something different on my own car glovebox. Carbon fibre at 45degree angle which creates those stripes to go horizontally with the dash. I think it’s as cool as the original. And I also want to thank those lucky few who got the chance to purchased the fascias last week. Hope they arrive soon ;)

Taking on a project that is outside of carbon fibre and producing parts. This is an engine control unit by Haltech with new wiring harness and other bits to follow for my Saab 900 T16 1993. It’s an Elite 1500 with drive by wire throttle, short term and long term map learning, flex fuel support, data logging, wideband O2 control, thermocouples, per cylinder tuning correction and a lot of advanced and race functions available to discovered if desired. And most importantly all of this is done with very well supported and up to date software programmer. Looking forward to set this up on my car and say goodbye to T5 Suite, di cassettes, faulty cruise control ecus and idle control valves. Stay tuned

Here is an opportunity to grab yourself some weight reduction :) I have available a set of carbon door linkage plates (2 of 2 made so far).
This whole project was made for a quick self educational purposes so I cannot imagine making many of these for sale. So you can be confident to be one of the very few who has these ;) Not mentioning these are the second and final prototypes.
This set weighs 260grams (compared to original metal ones 840grams) which give a little over half a kg weight reduction from the doors. Made of prepreg carbon fibre.
Functionality wise they work exactly like the originals and provide the same stiffness for the inner door link to pull against.

The price is 175€

Today was supposed to be a good and productive day where I finally install the prototype carbon differential cover and proceed with some real life tests.
The first thing in the agenda was to prove how important is the original oil filter and magnet in the design of the cover. So I had the original cover (with filter and magnet) installed 1500km back with fresh oil and today I wanted to see how much metal particles can be found caught by those two.

It was not what I expected to find. There was a big c-shaped soft metal piece in the filter itself. Along with it came a fair amount of fine metal particles when cleaning the filter with brake cleaner into the cover so I would know how much is in there. And of course the magnet had caught a lot of metal as well.

Had a quick chat with Jörgen Eriksson as well and he thought this could be either a gearset shim sitting behind the reverse gear or a bearing sealing ring. Either way not a good thing to find.
Good thing is that it's likely have broken just recently (during the last 1500km) and it was caught by the filter. Note that the gearbox itself was fully rebuilt around 2000km ago.
Also I consider a good thing that I did not notice any malfunction during this period and the gearbox seemed to operate flawlessly.
Bad thing is that the rest of this piece is still in the box and to fix it I need to take the engine out again.

Anyway, this puts me in the situation where I need to deal with this problem first before I get back to testing the temperatures and oil filtration again.

Moral of the story however is that the original filter and magnet are a must. All of this had been circling round with oil between gears and bearings otherwise. Take note Steel Diff Cover users :) Stiffness is nice to have, clean oil is essential.

First is on my own car but these will be available for purchase shortly. These are extremely light weight coming in at 625g a set compare to 1960g a set for original metal ones. The first prototype carbon fibre differential cover is ready for testing. 25 layers of prepreg carbon give it around 12mm of thickness at the fl**ge. It’s a very solid piece and the weight shows that. Very happy how this has turned out and that I’ve managed to keep the original magnet and filter. The safety wire is a nice upgrade as well ;) you don’t want those stainless bolts getting loose and destroying your precious gearbox. #saab #saab900classic #carbonfibre #racing #safetywire

So this happened. Twice. Seems like the pretty much only metal part on my carbon wiper arms is failing due to... being old. The spring tension is pretty similar to stock. Actually on both of these cases the failure happened on a stock wiper arms. But I can’t trust these original but old bosh parts anymore and I think this is a good opportunity to make this even more complicated than it already is and try making this out of carbon too #keepitsimplestupid #saab #carbonfibre #saab900 #saabclassic
