Icy Strait Point was selected as the 2020 Seatrade Cruise “Port of the Year.” This is the first time in Seatrade award history that an Alaska port has won this prestigious award.

From July 2019 to July 2020, Icy Strait Point set visitor and tax contribution records for Hoonah, Alaska, doubling capacity with the addition of a second large cruise ship dock and the Wilderness Landing port area, which contributed to the addition of nearly 100 new jobs for local Alaskans. Since opening in 2014, Icy Strait Point has hosted over two million cruise ship passengers and is visited by every major cruise line that sails in Alaska.

As the design-builder of both cruise ship docks at Icy Strait Point, Turnagain Marine Construction is proud to have played a part in the community’s success. We extend our congratulations to Huna Totem Corporation and Norwegian Cruise Lines, whose vision and determination have culminated in this world-class destination.

Armtec

Armtec was incredibly honoured to provide 85 voided girder slabs, 12 solid slabs
and Compression struts for the Dock Kloosterboer Dutch Harbor Project. Dutch Harbor in Unalaska, Alaska was the location of the Battle of Dutch Harbor in June 1942 and was one of the few sites, besides the attack on Pearl Harbor, in American territory to be bombed by the Japanese during World War II. Dutch Harbor is now the home of an important fishing industry.
