Brent and Chase were in the heart of Old Town Wichita today working on a project to renovate a historic building in the district. It will take some TLC, but the 3ten design will be awesome when it is done. The tenants will have some pretty nice views of downtown too!

Project Spotlight

One of our Structural Engineers at EC, Sidney, has been completing structural inspections for a new FEMA storm shelter for the City of Harper, Kansas. They protect the public in a catastrophic event, so these projects require sophisticated design, construction, and inspection, but the project is coming along nicely thanks to our project partners Vogts Construction Company and Carl Harris co., Inc. !

Here at EC we strive to live out our motto of “Engineering with Integrity, Service, and Innovation” with every project we do. We want to outline what these three values mean to our company.

Integrity: We firmly believe that integrity is one of the most valuable commodities that exist. Proverbs 28:6 says “Better is a poor man in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.” If we gain wealth or status but lose our integrity in the process, then we are truly poor.

Service: Client service is at the core of who we are. This is best exemplified by Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Our work has a higher purpose than just completing a project, as the way we go about it defines who we are. Serving our clients and meeting their needs helps to shape our personal character and values.

Innovation: EC has always worked to be at the cutting edge of innovation and we pride ourselves on our ability to react quickly and stay on the wave of technology and not be washed out and off of that wave. Whether that means early adoption of CAD in the late 1980’s, 3D structural modeling in the early 1990’s, full BIM adoption in the late 2000’s, or video conferencing in the early 2010’s, EC is always looking for ways that technology and innovation can improve how we serve and meet our client’s needs.

Past Project Spotlight

The design for Crosspoint was completed back in 2012 and we are still very proud of the design that converted an old bowling alley into a new church and state-of-the-art worship center. We were proud to team with Landmark Architects and Fuqua Construction, to help CrossPointNow as they seek to make an impact in the city of Hutchinson and beyond!

Our next team member introduction will be Vance Voth

Vance joined EC in 2015 as our landscape architect. He is now also the manager of all of our Site and Civil projects. He is a small town kid from Reno County. Vance graduated from K-State in 1992 with a Bachelor’s of Landscape Architecture degree. Vance and his wife Stephanie enjoy the activities of their three boys (one a sports talk/PxP radio guy, another a D2 college golfer, and lastly, a high school baseball player) and one daughter-in-law (the smart one). When his schedule allows, he still tries to play golf, but unfortunately, he is no longer good at it (editors note: Vance is actually a very good golfer who patiently deals with all office requests for golf tips)
