Linton Engineering, LLC (LE) is a structural engineering firm established in 2003, located in Loudoun County in Northern Virginia, which is dedicated to providing high quality professional structural engineering services. inton Engineering’s registered professional engineers and their support staff use the latest in computer software technology to assist them in their design and analysis. Our projects are typically produced using very latest versions of REVIT AutoCAD software. The engineers are experienced in the use of specialized software packages such as, ROBOT, ENERCALC, TEDDS, RISAFloor, RISA2D, RISA3D, and other specialized excel design spread sheets developed in-house by the office staff for such applications as floor vibration analysis, beam penetrations, wood connection design and retaining wall design. Committed to quality and client service, their staff understands the need for timeliness, responsiveness, creativity and accuracy. We have joined forces with cox graae + spack architects to create a custom-built stadium for the Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, MD. The structure includes an elevated press box, site ramp, retaining walls and athletic field equipment storage below the stadium seats. A new Game Day Plaza features low retaining walls and grade supported ramps and stairs. Congratulations to MTFA Architecture and the entire project team for completing the new Lightridge High School! This modern, light-filled design is the new prototype for LCPS. The 305,000 SF school features classroom wings, gymnasiums, drama and theatre venues, media center, flexible cafeteria and food service areas, special education space, computer, career and technology labs. The LEED Silver-Certified renovation of the Johns Hopkins University’s five-story, Macaulay Hall (circa 1964), created a modern, 40,000 GSF facility with multi-disciplinary laboratories, classrooms, and office space. Linton Engineering, LLC performed a structural survey and provided design services for ADA-accessibility updates and the complete relocation of the building core, including the elevator, staircase, and central ducts. Linton Engineering, LLC partnered with Bowie Gridley Architects on the LEED Gold-certified, Roland Park Country School’s Athletic Center in Baltimore, MD. The 57,000 GSF, 3-level facility features a 110-foot clear-span roof structure above the triple gymnasium and an indoor running track at the mezzanine level that is suspended from the roof trusses. The project also includes a fitness center, rowing tank, locker rooms, day care center and training facility. A new stair/elevator tower links the new structure to an existing historic building. We had the privilege to be a part of the Reed School/Westover Library renovation and adaptive reuse of a circa 1935 historic school building. The facility, shared by the Arlington Public Schools and Arlington County government, includes 60,000 GSF of mixed-use spaces with administration offices, multi-purpose room, community center and a public library. Linton Engineering, LLC is thrilled to share the news that plans are moving forward on the 24,000-square-foot historic preservation and reuse of this circa-1934 school building. The project includes an 18.5-acre multi-use development with retail space, restaurants, single-family and multi-unit residences. Temple Hall Farm, circa 1810, was built by William Temple Thomson Mason, nephew of George Mason. Now a working farm and interpretive center, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Linton Engineering provided creative structural engineering solutions for the Loudoun County NOVA park system’s new, 8,600 GSF, LEED Silver-certified visitor’s center. The challenge was to reassemble a re-claimed barn from upstate Pennsylvania inside the main building. The result is a completely unique, 1,200 GSF public space that features carefully preserved wood joinery. Dedicated in May of 2010, the 208-acre, riverside Windsor Castle Park is in the heart of Smithfield, VA, and listed in the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. Formerly known as Warraskoyack Shire, Arthur Smith I patented the original 1,450-acre parcel in 1637, in the Isle of Wight County. Linton Engineering, LLC provided a structural evaluation of the manor house and 11 outbuildings to provide emergency stabilization and remedial repair recommendations. The 4,500 GSF, circa 1725, colonial-era manor house, is a one and a half story, gable-roofed structure that features stuccoed masonry with twin end chimneys and two porches. Vernon Estate. Our professional engineering services, condition assessments, stabilization analysis and designs include the historic grist mill and waterwheel, spinning house, original ice house with its connecting tunnel, and the east lawn site walls. Staunton, VA sought to preserve its history and transform the once abandoned, 26,000 square-foot, circa 1895 Eakleton Hotel into the R.R. Smith Center for History and Art, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We provided structural design services to stabilize and restore the deteriorated structure and reconstruct the mansard dome that was missing for over 50 years. Nearby, the unique, trapezoidal-shaped White Star Mill, circa 1893, is now structurally sound and the locally made bricks and rare Chestnut beams preserved. Airmont House is a 6,000 square-foot, three-level, single-family house with a 2,000 square-foot detached pool house and garage. We collaborated with Cunningham | Quill Architects, PLLC, to achieve an 8-foot cantilevered roof on 2-sides of the main living area and create a steel-framed glass enclosed structure. In celebration of #ArchitectureMonth, we’re featuring our collaboration with Architect, David Jameson, on an addition to the 6,500 square-foot, three-level, Graticule House. Part of the addition included large glazed walls and two-story open floor areas. A 12-foot section of cantilevered floor utilizes an external steel truss and a braced steel frame. It’s always gratifying to find hidden treasure during any historic preservation project. For the circa 1840, 1,620 square-foot Willhaf house, it was the discovery of pristine, preserved log rafters where the original portion of the roof had been over-framed and two abandoned chimneys in the attic space. Now owned by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, the house, believed to be the second oldest standing structure in Van Buren, AR, was built by Leonard Willhaf, a German immigrant and the owner of Van Buren’s first bakery.

Proud to be a part of the relocation and renovation of a circa 1800, log and frame home in Clarksburg, MD. Once the home of Horace Willson, a physician and former state delegate and senator, it was moved to make way for a road-extension project. We engineered new footings, foundation walls, a ramp and retained the historic log joists.
