Agilyx

Agilyx Leading the way to make plastics circular. We believe the time is right to expand advanced recycling, giving post-use plastic a new, circular life by converting this valuable material back into its original building blocks for reuse.

By enabling plastic circularity on a global and commercial scale, we aim to play a vital role in accelerating the shift to a low-carbon economy. We have co-founded Cyclyx International, Inc, a waste plastics management company, to work directly with industry participants to engineer customized plastic recovery programs that supply advanced and chemical recycling facilities.

Meet the passionate and innovative people supporting our exciting missions!

One of these dedicated employees is Eric Lane, manager at Cyclyx Tigard. Eric and his team receive material from commercial suppliers and our local community and prepare it for chemical recycling with Agilyx's patented technology.

Eric says, β€œHaving seen the amount of material that Tigard processes in a day is very humbling. The plastic waste problem is incredibly large and complex, and it will take many more facilities and organizations to keep plastic out of the environment.”

This exciting milestone means less plastic waste in landfills!

Earlier this month we reached over 16,000 hours of commercial operating at our Tigard chemical recycling facility. In that time, we've diverted 4,400 tons of mixed plastic and polystyrene waste from landfill, the equivalent weight of nearly 20 Statues of Liberty.

This milestone strengthens our mission to be part of the solution to end plastic waste.

What is chemical recycling?

Simply put, chemical recycling converts plastics back to their chemical building blocks.

Technologies break apart plastic molecules (polymers) into their chemical components (monomers), which can be used to create new material. By creating new products from recycled material, chemical recycling finds value in plastic waste and curbs carbon emissions.

How does chemical recycling work?

By breaking plastic molecules into their building blocks, chemical recycling technology like ours is able to remake high quality plastic. New pathways for difficult to recycle materials enable the transition toward a more circular economy.

Make > Use > Recycle

Circularity means reusing waste to make new materials. Unlike the traditional "take-make-waste" linear economy, circularity eliminates waste by utilizing the full potential of our resources.

Our Story

Agilyx began as an alternative energy company that uses patented, proven and commercially viable technology to convert difficult-to-recycle waste plastics into synthetic crude oil.

It expanded to include processing of polystyrene plastics (expanded into foam, and non-expanded rigid #6), reclaiming from this material the original chemical ingredients, making these available for use again as a raw material. Recycling through this reclamation process does not degrade the ingredients, allowing them to be used in manufacturing in an endless, circular loop.

We create, manage or partner on projects around the world, including a plant in Tigard, Oregon focused on salvaging ingredients from polystyrene. Services specific to the Tigard plant can be found on the Services Page.

Applying its patented and proprietary technology, Agilyx reduces plastic waste normally destined for landfills. Our affordable, modular systems are sold to industrial and municipal waste plastic generators looking to reduce disposal-related costs and increase plastics-associated revenues – all while meeting challenging environmental standards, curbing the need for new landfills, and extracting the often-unused and untapped energy contained within waste plastic.
